How to invest

Whether you’re a first-time investor, someone who has invested previously or a professional adviser, Fidelity has a range of products and options to suit your financial requirements.

The following information will assist you in your decision to invest with Fidelity.

You can invest in a Fidelity fund via a “platform”, which is generally accessed through a financial adviser. A platform is an investment product that bundles together a range of managed funds and investments as one single product. And because it’s one product, all the administration, tax, distribution and reporting is consolidated.

Fidelity also accepts direct investment from individuals, with a minimum investment of $25,000 in any one fund. For more information, please download the respective Product Disclosure Statements from our Fund PDS and Forms page.

  1. Do your research, read the relevant Product Disclosure Statement for the chosen fund/s and the accompanying Additional Information booklet. Please note the minimum investment amount is $25,000 in any one fund.
  2. Contact your mFund broker to discuss and review the fund/s you are interested in. If you don’t have an existing relationship with a broker, visit the ASX website where a full list of participating brokers can be found.
  3. Instruct your broker to buy units in the interested fund/s, providing your payment details.
  4. Your new mFund units are issued and transferred to your CHESS holding.
  5. Following completion of the transaction you will receive confirmation of the transaction and a CHESS statement.

The role of a financial adviser is to gain an intimate understanding of your financial situation and develop strategies to help you achieve your financial goals. They can determine the right asset allocation for your goals i.e. the proportion of your investments that you hold in cash, shares, fixed income and property.

A financial adviser can help you with the following issues:

  • general investment advice
  • superannuation / retirement planning
  • insurance – income protection, life, total permanent disability
  • estate planning
  • education funds
  • starting a new business or changing jobs
