We believe that by investing in companies which operate with high standards of corporate responsibility we can protect and enhance investment returns for our clients.

Through our rigorous bottom-up research process we gain an in-depth understanding of ESG issues at a company level before they escalate and potentially threaten the value of our clients’ investments.

Our approach to Sustainable Investing

Find out how Fidelity integrates sustainable investing into our investment approach.

Inside Fidelity’s proprietary sustainability ratings

Fidelity has introduced an ESG rating into our analyst rating system for the companies that we research. Find out how this creates an opportunity for meaningful corporate engagement and contributes to the long-term performance of our investments.

ESG is integrated into our fundamental research

The company research we conduct for selection and ongoing monitoring combines financial and sustainability analysis. We use our own proprietary ESG ratings, input from our dedicated ESG team and external analysis and ratings to develop a holistic view of the companies we research.

An evolution of ESG at Fidelity

We are continually striving for enhanced ESG integration into our investment process4.

In 2019 we:

We launched our own proprietary ESG ratings that integrate ESG issues into our research and portfolio monitoring with increased collaboration between ESG specialists and investment teams.
We structured our sustainable investing agenda around five key themes: climate financing, supply-chain transparency, sustainability reporting, responsible palm-oil and animal protein industries.
We created a best practice guide for Fidelity portfolio managers and analysts to assist them when speaking to companies about how they are managing stakeholder relationships and maintaining board effectiveness, as a result of the COVID pandemic.
